Rondo CapricciosoRossen BalkanskiWe do not have too many Rondo compositions in our guitar repertoire. Especially composers of the 20th century and of our times do not use this form. Here, in Rossen Balkanskis Rondo Capriccioso, we find a brilliant example, how interesting or even exciting a Rondo can be nowadays. The theme of this piece for itself is widely modulating and it is changing the illumination all the time, as - for example - sometimes the sky of a day in April is changing its sight every five minutes. The word capriccioso receives its own, special meaning here - the meaning of a permanently changing mood. The harmonical, melodical and rhythmical richness of the theme allows Balkanski to not change it at all throughout the composition. Playful parts between the always returning main section of the theme show the composer's mastership in developing one out of the other. The composition appears interesting in every bar and the player as well as the listener will enjoy the different meanings of the word playfulness which Balkanski creates in the piece.
