Andersen VianaComposerAndersen Viana (b. 1962) is a Brazilian composer-conductor, music producer and educator. His father Sebastião Viana was an assistant to Heitor Villa-Lobos, and his family has produced several distinguished musicians and artists. Andersen was born in Belo Horizonte and has studied with S. Vianna, Violeta H. de Gainza, Ennio Morricone, Luca Salvadori, Ettore Scolla, Giussepe Tornatore, Radamés Gnatalli, Paulo Bosísio, Max Rostal, Oilliam Lanna, among others. His studies have taken him to Italy and Sweden, to the Accademia Chigiana di Siena, Reale Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, the Arts Academy of Rome, Royal University College of Music (Stockholm), as well as to UFMG, UFBA (Federal University of Minas Gerais and Bahia). His area of specialization has been the music composition. He has recorded five CDs, two of them in Europe. He has received 19 national and international awards, including 1st prize at the prestigious “1er Concours de Composition Musicale pour Orchestre à Vent” in Comines, Belgium (2001), and First Prize and the Prix du Public at the “Concours de Composition pour Orchestre d'Harmonie” in Lambersart, France (2006). He has also composed, conducted and produced music for the following films: The Fortuneteller, 3:00 AM, Burning Hearts, The Adam Children, The Next Step, Gun's Speech, Lost in Abbey Road, Vivalma, Manuelzao e Bananeira, Ofelia, Playing for Tomorrow, Ghost Train, The Man of the Cardboard Head, Minas Portuguesa, Near Evil, and Condenados. Andersen Viana has more than 258 compositions to his credit including symphonic and chamber music, film scores, opera, vocal and choral and solo instrumental works. He teaches various music subjects at the Fundação Clóvis Salgado - Palácio das Artes, and film music at the Escola Livre de Cinema in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Andersen has developing studies, works, collaborations with institutions and artists, cultural projects in the following countries: Brazil, USA, Italy, Sweden, France, Russia, Czech Republic, Honduras, United Kingdom, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, and Bulgaria. |
